Celebrating 30 Years

It’s hard to believe I’m celebrating my 30th anniversary with Acadia Benefits today.  Doesn’t 1990 seem like yesterday?  Watching Sam and Diane bicker on Cheers, listening to Michael Bolton on the radio (oh, that hair was really something) and George H.W. Bush was leading our country.  Yes, that would be George Bush SENIOR  for those of you who are doing the math.

When I started my career in the world of employee benefits, I would never have predicted the changes that technology would bring to our business.  Technology has allowed us to move faster, travel further and respond more efficiently to our customers’ needs.  It’s hard to imagine a time without cell phones, email and google and I am thankful for the tools technology provides us to better connect with people.

My interest in becoming a benefits advisor 30 years ago was pretty straightforward… to help others.  And I am not surprised that treating people well is still the most important aspect of what we do today.  Putting our customers first has been and continues to be our top priority.  I can’t imagine that this will ever change in the future.

Thinking back over the last 30 years I’ve had the opportunity to work with some incredible people.  I’ve been very fortunate to be part of a terrific team here at Acadia Benefits, connected with a talented group of peers at United Benefit Advisors, supported by dedicated carrier partners and vendors, and be a valued partner to our customers and their employees.

I love that I am always learning something new in this field and it’s why I have been here for three decades.  Three decades… wow, that really is something.  Without all of you it wouldn’t mean as much, and I certainly wouldn’t have learned as much.  I truly thank you for being part of my time here!
